Garrett and kitten update.

Garrett has been doing learning a ton of new things.  Here is some of the new stuff he’s doing:

~ He knows where a lot of body parts are:  hair, mouth, nose, eyes, ears, toes.  We are working on knee, leg, and belly.

~ He can climb up and down off of the couch really well.  He likes to sit on the back of the couch and watch the bird/cars outside, or Mike cut the grass.  So cute!

~ He’s become very shy lately.  He’ll cover his eyes or hide his face if he’s around a lot of new people.

~ Still taking two naps a day.  Praise the Lord!

~ Likes to “read” stories by himself.  Adorable!

~ Is getting a ton of new teeth!  I think he’s up to 13 now.

~ Will give hugs and blow kisses when asked.  Aww!

~ Gives the baby kisses.

~ He’s becoming much more gentle with the cats/kittens outside.

~ He’s very interested in other babies that we see at the doctor’s office or at the store.  He always watches them.

I can’t think of anything else right now.  It seems like he’s always learning all sorts of things though, so I want to try to remember what I can.

Here are some pictures of the new kittens that were born over Mother’s Day weekend.

Aren’t they so sweet and tiny?  I just love them!!  There are 5 all together, 2 grey tigers, 1 orange tiger, one white one, and one black one.

Weekend

Mike’s boss was having a graduation party for her son at a pony farm on Saturday.  We got home early so we could check out the animals before the party started.

She sure looks uncomfortable, doesn’t she?  I guess I really can’t complain too much.

He didn’t make it very far on the pony ride.

Spaghetti for dinner.

The one with all the gnats!

We left Thursday morning for a two-day trip for our anniversary.  Garrett was staying with Grandma Deb and Grandpa Mark.  Mike went through a lot of effort to plan something nice and a little different for us to do, and we were both looking forward to a little vacation.

The first night we were going to stay in a “rustic” cabin in Wilderness State Park.  Being a rustic cabin (read: no running water, and no electricity) neither one of us had very high expectations.  I thought it would be pretty cold the whole time, while Mike was anticipating rain.  Either way, I wasn’t too worried, it was only one night.  Well, it was a lot worse than cold and rainy.  There were gnats EVERYWHERE!

If you click on the picture you can get a better view.  There were swarms of them.  By the time we got from the car to the inside of the cabin, we were both covered in them.

While we weren’t super impressed, but the cabin was nice, so we decided to tough it out.

Don’t mind me, I was planning an escape! ; )

We went to Mackinaw City, had dinner and walked around a little, since we couldn’t do anything outside at the cabin.  We played cards and ended up going to bed early, since there wasn’t much else to do.  We planned on leaving first thing in the morning.  Friday morning, we woke up early and packed.  The gnats were sleeping but as soon as you walked by they woke up and started swarming again.

This is a VERY small percentage of the ones that made it inside the car.

It was so gross, but we were out of there, hoping for a better day.  We spent most of the day in Petoskey.  I got my hair cut, which was way overdue (plus I wanted to wash all the gnats out), and we checked out a bunch of the little shops and had lunch there.  We were going to be staying at Leggs Inn that night.  Leggs Inn is a Polish restaurant that one of the guys Mike works with told him about.  We actually were going to try to stop there last year, but they weren’t open yet.  They have little cabins that you can rent, that have electricity and running water, so we were hopeful that it would go a little better.

Sadly, the bugs were a little better but not by much.  We tried walking down to the lake and were soon covered in gnats again.  So instead of being stuck inside all night again, we both decided it would be best to head to Grandma Deb’s after dinner.  We ate dinner there, which was excellent, and headed out.  Needless to say, we were both very glad to see Garrett and come home.

Our anniversary trip didn’t go quite as planned, but we certainly had an adventure and checked out some new areas.  Thanks for doing all of the planning, Mike!

3 year Anniversary!

Today, Mike and I have been married for 3 years.  It’s amazing all we’ve accomplished together in the past 3 years.  All my student loans are paid off, we’ve had a baby, another baby on the way.  I’m very thankful to be married to such a great guy.   Happy Anniversary, Michael!  Can’t wait to see what’s in store for us next year!  I love  you!!

Happy Birthday to Me!

Yesterday was my birthday!  I love my birthday!  Mike really went out of his way to make this year great!  I’m so lucky to be married to him!  He got me Pioneer Woman’s cookbook!   I can’t wait to make a couple more of her recipes!!  I also got a card from Garrett!  It was so sweet!  My parents came down and we went to the Japanese Hibachi Grill for lunch, and we had steak on the grill for dinner!  Mike also made me a birthday cake!  It was vanilla on the bottom and chocolate fudge on top, with chocolate cool whip frosting!  Yummy!!

Helping Mike with my cake.

Mike said my cake had a little baby bump, just like me.

Here’s to another great year, ahead!
