Happy 6 month Birthday Garrett!!

I can’t believe our little man is 6 months old!!  It seems like we just had him and now he’s half way to 1 year.  I had a homemade brownies to celebrate this milestone.  Garrett on the other hand decided to celebrate by not taking naps and crying a lot today.   Maybe I should have given him a brownie!  Oh well!  Happy 6 months, baby!  We love you!

Money Saving Tips

In my new job as a domestic engineer, I’ve been looking for ways to save money.  Here are some of my favorites.

* We make our own foam soap.  Use an empty foam soap dispenser, pour a little bit of regular soap (about 1 Tablespoon) in the bottom, fill the rest of the container up with warm water, shake and use.  Works great for dish soap also.

*Use vinegar instead of fabric softener (the smell goes away when the clothes are dry) and jet dry.

*Netflix!  We used to rent movies all the time until we got Netflix.  They even have a large assortment of work-out videos so I ended up cancelling my gym membership.  I’d rather do a video at home, while Garrett is napping than lose family time at the end of the day when I’m more tired anyways.

*We switched from paper napkins to cloth.  Cute designs too!

*I make my own laundry soap.  Doesn’t take very long and is great for sensitive skin.

*Allowance!  Mike and I get a predetermined amount every so often to spend on whatever we want.  I use mine mostly for clothes and Mike likes to save his for bigger purchases like guns.  Saves a lot of fights and helps keep spending down.

*Tide pen and Shout wipes!  Gets rid of stains before they set, save clothes!  Baby wipes also are great for cleaning up spills!

Aunt Brooke came to visit!

Aunt Brooke came to visit us for the whole weekend!  She even took Friday off so she could stay an extra day!  We had so much fun!

Garrett started eating peas!  Not very impressed with those either.  He’ll hold them on his tongue and make a gaggy face, like he can’t figure out how to get them off his tongue.  I hope he gets used to vegetables soon!

He is so close to crawling!  He can move across the floor really well on his own already, he just hasn’t quite figured out how to get his arms and legs moving together.  He likes to get up on all fours and rock.

I don’t really mind too much that he gets up once at night sometimes.  We get to snuggle then, and I love that!!

We took Garrett swimming for the first time at the Community Center.  He loved it!

Grandma and Grandpa Berciunas also came to visit for a little while on Saturday.

The neighbors have two new kittens that we get to play with!  Fizzy (black nose) and Pineapple (white nose),  are their names!!  Garrett loves them!  What a great weekend!

Father’s Day Picnic

After Garrett’s dedication last Sunday, we had a picnic.  Grandma and Grandpa Berciunas, Grandma and Grandpa S, Grandma Deb and Grandpa Mark, Great Grandma Stephenson, Great Grandma Hopkins, Uncle Dan and Aunt Jan, and Aunt Gladys all came to the picnic!  It was so much fun!

Thanks everyone for coming and for bringing food!  We really appreciate it!

Happy Father’s Day!

Garrett is being dedicated at our church today!!  We will be having a picnic after church with our families, it’s going to be a good day!  Garrett is so blessed to have such a wonderful Daddy!  Happy Father’s Day, Mike!!!  You are such an amazing Daddy!!  Thank you for all you do for us!  Garrett and I love you so much!!

Happy Father’s Day to our Dad’s, too!  We love and appreciate you!

We don’t have a TV and we LOVE it!

We do actually have a TV but we don’t have cable or a converter box so we can’t have any TV channels.  We do have a VCR/DVD player to watch movies.  We also belong to Netflix, which we LOVE, but that’s all.   I find the news too depressing.  I have the internet and Mike to keep me up to date on world happenings.  We’ve never really cared much for reality shows, either.  I do follow a couple of TV series, but I watch them on hulu.com while Mike is at work and Garrett is napping.  I don’t have to stay up late to see them and Mike isn’t forced to watch them either (which he loves).   Everybody wins!  Plus, we didn’t want Garrett watching a lot of cartoons and commercials when he gets older.   We’ve never really had cable and Mike doesn’t care about watching sports on TV (which is one of the things I LOVE about him!!) so we don ‘t miss that either.  It’s not for everyone but it works for us and we love it!

Two little baby teeth poking through!

Not much longer and we’re going to have a crawling baby!

Elk Lake

Grandma and Grandpa S have a condo on Elk Lake!  So we headed up for Memorial Day weekend!  Aunt Michelle flew in also!  We had a great time!

First time in Elk Lake!
