16 weeks!

How far along:  16 weeks, it’s going so fast!

How big is baby:  avocado.

Total weight gain:  10ish lbs

Maternity clothes:  Definitely.

Sleep:  Great!!  I’ve been sleeping really hard and not waking as much, very nice.

Best moment of the week:  Not having any cavities at my dentist appointment.  Also realizing by the time I go back to the dentist, the baby will be here!

Food cravings:  Eggs and ice cream, just not together.

Food aversions:  None.

Symptoms:  I pulled my stomach muscles doing a prenatal workout video, so I’ve been VERY VERY sore since then, it felt like I was going into labor a couple times.  It appears to be calming down, finally!!  Quite a bit of heartburn and some nausea, but nothing too bad.

Movement:  I’ve felt a couple more taps, but not a whole lot.  Can’t wait to feel more movement!

Gender:  No idea.  This week, I’m leaning more towards boy.

What I’m looking forward to:  More kicking, ultrasound, and halfway point in a couple of weeks.  My birthday, Mother’s Day, and our anniversary are coming!!  Looking forward to those too!!

What I miss:  Nothing, I’m enjoying this pregnancy so much.  I don’t know if it’s because it’s my second and I understand how amazing giving birth and having a baby is or because I’m not working full-time so I have more time to savor this pregnancy, or just because I’ve been feeling so good, but this pregnancy has been so wonderful!  I’m enjoying it very much!

Next appt:  May 9th, we’ll get to hear the heartbeat again, can’t wait!!

Garrett is so funny!

Garrett cracks me up!!  I wanted to write down a couple of the funny things he’s done lately.

He likes to hide by our bedroom door where the kitchen cabinets end.  If he’s in his hiding spot and you get too close, he’ll shake his head and try to push you away.

He started picking up rocks outside, when we’re playing.  The other day he had two in one hand and one in the other.  There was another one that he wanted to pick up, so he tried putting one of the rocks in his mouth so he could pick up another one.

This morning when he woke up, he took everything off one of the bookshelves looking for more Easter eggs.

Garrett is a very picky eater.  We have a difficult time getting him to eat dinner.  Every now and then he’ll surprise us though.  First it was sloppy joes.  He wouldn’t eat it off the bread and was throwing a big fit, so Mike started eating his dinner.  A little bit later he notices, Garrett eating the pieces of meat off of his tray.  He ate a leaf of spinach.  I was having a salad and he wanted an olive, but I gave him some spinach instead.  He actually put it in his mouth and ate part of it, no dressing or anything.  Last week I made enchiladas, he didn’t want anything to do with it, and then all of a sudden he ate a couple of pieces of it.

Another food one, we had bratwurst for dinner Sunday night a couple of weeks ago, and he ate almost a whole bratwurst.  The next night, it was like poison, he wouldn’t touch it!!  Tuesday night we were finishing them up and he didn’t want any part of it, so I was warming up some left over macaroni and cheese for him to eat.  Well, he ate his macaroni and cheese fine.  After that was all gone, he started eating the bratwurst.  He ate almost an entire one.

He has a book called The Toolbox.  It lists a bunch of things that go in a toolbox, and what they do.  Well, when Mike reads this story to him, he likes to make the sound effects.  The sandpaper makes a scratchy sound, so when they get to that page Garrett will scratch the page and Mike will make the sound.

Mooserson (his lovey) stays in his bed all the time.  Whenever the door to his room is open, he tries to sneak in and steal Mooserson out of bed.  It’s so cute.

Today, Mike was leaving for work.  I have to pick Garrett up so he doesn’t hang on Mike’s legs.  Well, Mike rubbed my arm as he was about to leave, and then Garrett rubbed it the exact same way.

When I’m getting his breakfast ready, he always wants me to pick him up.  Once I get his oatmeal going, I’ll come and sit down in the living room.  As soon as I sit down, he wants to get down.  He likes being carried when you are walking around, but the second you sit down, he’s done with it.

Goodnight Moon is the last book we read to him before bed or nap time.  We know it by heart so we usually just recite it to him.  When we start saying it to him before bed or nap time, he’ll start sucking his thumb and laying his head down on our shoulders.  One day he was having a hard time calming down and going to sleep, after I’d put him in bed.  I went back in his room, picked him up and started saying Goodnight Moon to him again, but he wouldn’t relax.  So I laid him down in my arms, so I was cradling him, while I said the Goodnight Moon story to him.  He reached his little arm up and put his hand over my mouth so I’d stop saying it.  It was so funny!

We always say goodnight prayers before bedtime.  Lately, he’ll fold his hands when we say them.  So sweet!

Happy Easter!!

We had such a wonderful Easter!  We made it to church, which was very nice.  Not so much for Garrett, he missed his morning nap and was pretty upset by the time we went in to get him.  As soon as he saw me, he started crying, I felt so bad!!  After his nap, though, he was feeling a lot better.  We gave him his easter basket in the morning and then hid eggs while he was napping.  He had a lot of fun finding the eggs, it was so cute!!

Hope everyone had a wonderful Easter!

Maternity clothes:  For sure.

Sleep:  I had some insomnia Saturday night, that was fun, but otherwise pretty good.

Food cravings:  Guacamole, yummy!!

Food aversions:  Not really, still having a hard time deciding what sounds good sometimes.

What I miss:  Nothing, still can’t really complain.

Next appt:  May 9th

Garrett’s busy Sunday.

First some light reading.

Next, getting the clothespins ready for the brand new clothesline!  Thanks Mike!

(No babies were harmed in the making of these photos! ; ))

Next getting bundled up to go outside to hang the clothes out on the line.  (Not really, he just wanted to wear Mike’s sweatshirt.  He went to take a nap shortly after this!)

And, done!
