This time last year, we were all in the hospital. This time last year, I had just finished my 30 hours of labor. This time last year, Garrett had just been born. Yesterday he took his first steps. My, how things have changed! How has it been a year already, it seems like just yesterday?
What an amazing year! I never thought it would be so wonderful! He is such a blessing, and we thank God everyday for him! We love you so much Garrett Joseph!
Our fourth and final Christmas celebration was with the Stephenson side of the family (minus Grandma and Grandpa S, who were in Colorado with baby Brody, Aunt Julie, and Uncle Brian). Sunday morning we loaded up the car and headed to Grandma Stephenson’s house.
Garrett got to meet a lot of people for the first time, including cousin Chase! Chase is about 7 months older than Garrett so we were all very excited for them to meet. The boys didn’t seem too interested in each other, and mostly just did their own thing, but it was cute to see them together and I know they will be playing together a lot soon.
Chase isn’t so sure about me.

One of my favorite presents, an Ergo carrier for Garrett! Thanks Mrs. S!
Thank you Stephenson family for all the wonderful presents! Love you all!
Brooke came down on Thursday afternoon, to help me get stuff ready for Christmas Eve. We went out to dinner by ourselves and walked around Holland, a little. It was so nice. My parents came down Christmas Eve and we opened presents Christmas morning. Garrett got so many wonderful things, and so did Mike and I! Thank you guys so much for everything!

Garrett’s first Christmas cookie. He was a big fan.
Grandma and Grandpa Berciunas got Garrett a rocking horse. He’s a little scared of it right now, but I’m sure he’ll get used to it soon.

Thanks for a wonderful Christmas Berciunas family! We love you!
We received this little moose, before Garrett was born, from a great family friend Janie Oliver. Garrett has been sleeping with his Mooserson for a while now and loves him so much, he can’t sleep without him! Once I realize how beloved Mooserson is, I ordered a couple replacements, just in case something happened to Original Mooserson. Well, Garrett saw Mooserson 2 and 3 and was quite excited about them. I stacked them on the bottom bunk and he just keep staring at them! We love our Mooserson! Thank you so much Janie!
Grandma Deb and Grandpa Mark brought Aunt Michelle out to see us after she flew in today! It was so great seeing them!
Thanks for coming to visit!
Saturday will mark one whole year since I earned a paycheck! I sure have learned a lot! I can’t believe how fast it’s gone!
Before I got pregnant, when Mike first suggested it, I didn’t really think I would want to be a stay at home mom. When we found out I was pregnant and the further along I got, the better it sounded. There were other factors involved in the decision but I was really excited about the idea of staying home with my new baby. When I put in my notice at work, I was still a little apprehensive. What if I didn’t like staying home? What if I got bored? I was quitting my job, at a time when jobs were hard to find. I didn’t really know what to expect, with being a stay at home mom. Of course, I didn’t have a clue as to what to expect with being a mom at all. It was a little scary!
I’m so very thankful that I’ve been able to stay home with Garrett! I really have enjoyed it! It isn’t always easy. Some days, I count the minutes until Mike comes home, so I can get out of the house by myself, for a little bit. Most days, however, I love staying home. I enjoy extra snuggles before nap time. I enjoy the occasional nap for myself. I enjoy going to the gym and running errands in the morning. I enjoy not having to drive to work during rush hour or construction or snow storms. I enjoy not having to worry about vacation days or sick days. I enjoy putting my energy towards my family.
Being a stay at home mom isn’t for everyone or every family, but for us it’s working out very well. I’m very thankful for the opportunity to stay home with Garrett. I’m so thankful that Mike works so hard to provide for us so I even have the option. I’m thankful that Mike appreciates how hard I work, and all the help he gives me. I don’t know how I would manage without him! I’m so very thankful that me staying home, is important to him and that it has been a blessing to our whole family!
Grandma and Grandpa S stayed with Garrett while we went to Mike’s work Christmas party. So we had Christmas with them last weekend. They are going to be in Colorado, for Christmas, loving on Garrett’s brand new cousin!
Garrett did a great job unwrapping presents! He got so excited about each present, too! It was so fun to watch him!
