Dinner

Mike took us out for dinner tonight.  Garrett ate broccoli and rice!  We were shocked!  Mike’s fortune was, “You will soon witness a miracle.”

Not sure if that was Garrett eating a vegetable or the baby is going to come soon! ; )

Playing

We put Mike’s tree stand up last weekend.  It was a little challenging, since I couldn’t help a lot, but we got it up there.

Mike made a little swing for Garrett in the backyard.  He loves it!

Baby Sister Pregnancy Update: 38 weeks

How far along:  38 weeks!  Eekk!!  2(ish) weeks to go!

How big is baby:  Watermelon.

Maternity clothes:  Yes.  I’m starting to run low on clothes.

Sleep:   Garrett had a rough night Saturday night, so that was difficult for all of us.  Thankfully he’s been doing much better since then.   I wake up about every two hours though.

Best moment of the week:  Nice relaxing weekend at home, all together.  We don’t have many weekend left as a family of 3 so it was nice to just hang out at home together.  It was rainy most of the weekend but we still went for a couple walks and played outside quite a bit.  I also got a double jogging stroller for $40 from a friend this weekend!  Very excited about that!

Food cravings:  Chocolate.

Food aversions:  Nothing really.

Symptoms:  I’m sick!  Mike got a nasty cold the weekend Garrett was at my parent’s, I caught it last week, and now Garrett is sick.  We all need to get feeling better soon!

Movement:  She’s been pretty quiet the past couple days.  Every time I start to worry about her, she always moves a little to make me feel better.  Such a sweet girl already.

Gender:   Baby Girl!

Labor Signs: I’ve been having contractions about every day since last Thursday.  Most of the time they last for about 4 hours.  Yesterday (Monday) they were about 5 minutes apart for almost an hour then… nothing.  It’s a little frustrating.

What I’m looking forward to:   Seeing my baby girl!

What I miss:  Having more clothing options, not being sick, not having to go to the bathroom every 5 minutes.

Next appt:  Sept 29th.  I’m going every week now!  EEKKK!

Notes:  It’s starting to set in that she’s going to be here soon!  I’m so excited to see her!

Cloth Diapers

We’ve been using our prefolds for quite a while now.  They are working out pretty well.  It’s taken a little practice though.  At first we were folding the diaper up and using a Snappi to hold it in place.  Then adding the cover.  I have two different brands of covers, Flip and Thirsties Duo.  The Thirsities cover worked best for this method, the Flip cover wasn’t big enough to cover the toddler prefold all the way.  Then I was online one day and saw a video about different folds for prefolds and I realized you could fold the prefold in thirds and lay it in the diaper.  A lot faster for diapering a squirmy toddler.

I actually liked the Flip cover better for this method, it has flaps on the front and back to keep the prefold tucked in.  Then I saw on a blog that you can fold the prefold into fourths.  This makes the diaper fit into the cover better, and also makes it more absorbent.

Both covers seem to work really well with this method and it has been my favorite so far.  I plan on experimenting with the baby sister to see which method works the best on her.  Grandma and Grandpa S got us prefolds for her (Thank you!!) so those are all washed and ready to go.  We have 3 Thirsties covers in size 1, and she can also use the Flip cover.

Size 1 Thirsties covers.

We also have some newborn and small-sized all-in-one (AIO) diapers that I made.  These are just like disposable, not needing any inserts or covers.  There is a soft velour inside, a microfiber soaker pad sewn in, and a waterproof outside.

Tiny little newborn diaper.  I love the belly button cut out, that’s my favorite part.

Small sized AIO diaper.

That’s what we have so far.  We are really happy with how it’s been going with Garrett.  I’m interested to see how these work for the baby girl.

OB Appointment

I had an OB appointment yesterday, blood pressure good, heart rate good, belly measuring right on.  My Group B Strep Test was negative, which is good, one less thing to worry about.  I didn’t gain any weight in the past two weeks!  That was very exciting!!  Dr. Taylor is going to be out-of-town next Wednesday so if she doesn’t come before then, she needs to stay put until Thursday.  My next appointment is next Thursday, September 29th.  I’ll be going once a week from now on!
