Freezer Cooking: Part 2

I made two things of cinnamon rolls and two things of stuffed peppers, today.

    Can you really freeze anything you cook? I’ve never made freezer meals and I just can’t imagine eating them after a week or more in the freezer. Yuck!

    Are they still tasty? Is it safe?

    I’m really hoping my mom can make it to stay with us for a few months, so we don’t have to cook, because I’m not sure I can handle freezer meals.

      Some things freeze better than others. We did lasagna, enchiladas, stuffed peppers,and cinnamon rolls last time. I cooked the lasagna before freezing and then after to warm it up again, but everything else I just baked when we were ready to eat it. Everything turned out really well. There are a bunch of websites on freezer cooking and the best ways to do it. Mike likes to cook, so we didn’t get too carried away with it, but it definitely is nice to have some ready to go, healthier options.

        I can see freezing meat and cheese meals. But what about vegetables? And do these things really last for that long? And still taste good?

        It won’t let me reply to your comment, so I’m replying to mine. ; ) I put spinach in my lasagna, obviously the stuffed peppers, and zucchini bread. We freeze extra zucchini anyway, when we get too much from the garden and can’t use it fast enough. I think everything tastes good, but it’s not like the main flavor is from the vegetables. The meat, sauce, or cheese usually adds more flavor and you can’t really taste the vegetables, they just add nutrients. We don’t get as many fresh vegetables in Michigan as you do, so I normally buy frozen during the winter. It usually has more nutrients to it compared to the fresh veggies that were picked too early and shipped half way across the country. Green beans especially are really good frozen.
